bread and laughter on board of Tres Hombres

When @karstenbabucke arrived on board of the Tres Hombres and heard we were gonna be baking sourdough bread everyday in the ship he jumped in such excitement that he banged his head against the wall. True story.

Almost three weeks have passed and he is continuously learning. But his curiosity, tenacity and hard work have made him what he is now: the main bread baker @treshombres.shipping :) I have become just the asshole the comes, eats and points out how under fermented it is! Though love.

Jokes aside, it has been great to cook for everybody but it is awesome to be able to share it with someone who has the same passion. I feed in the morning, he mixes at lunch time. He shapes at dinner time, I bake next morning. #teamworkdreamwork

We are making 4 loaves a day, everyday, for 16 people, and it is barely enough! We make them in tins for space efficiency but also because the rocking of the ship would totally destroy the free form loaf when proving/baking. I was curious to see if the salty environment would impair the growth of bread and starter but so far all is going strong in this magical galley.

Shall there be bread for hungry sailors!
